Accommodation Types in Tamraght

Surf Camps (€300–900/week all-inclusive)

The most popular option. A typical Tamraght surf camp package includes accommodation in a riad, all meals, daily surf coaching (2 sessions), board and wetsuit rental, daily transport to breaks, and airport transfers. Most camps operate family-run riads with rooftop terraces and ocean views. Group sizes are typically 4–8 per instructor. Camps in Tamraght are generally 10–20% cheaper than equivalent packages in Taghazout.

Riads (€25–50/night, private room)

Tamraght's traditional guesthouses are its greatest accommodation asset. A riad is a multi-storey house built around a central courtyard, often with a rooftop terrace. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with Moroccan decor, en-suite bathrooms, and breakfast included. Many riads are family-run, offering a genuinely personal experience. The best ones are on the upper hillside, with terraces that look out over the entire coastline.

Surf Hostels (€15–25/night, shared dorm)

A good option for budget solo travellers. Expect shared dormitory rooms (4–8 beds), communal areas, and a social atmosphere. Most hostels offer breakfast and can arrange surf lessons separately. Wi-Fi is standard. The trade-off is privacy and comfort — shared bathrooms and noise are part of the deal.

Villas (€80–150+/night)

For families, groups, or those wanting more space and privacy, several villas in and around Tamraght offer multiple bedrooms, full kitchens, private pools, and large terraces. Booking a villa plus separate surf lessons can work out well for groups of 4+ people.

Best Areas to Stay in Tamraght

  • Upper Hillside: The prime location. Riads perched on the hill offer panoramic ocean views, spectacular sunsets, and a quieter atmosphere. The trade-off is a short uphill walk from the main road. This is where most of the best surf camps are located.
  • Village Centre: Close to the main road, shops, and cafes. More convenient for walking to amenities but can be noisier, especially near the main road. Good for those who want to be in the middle of things.
  • Lower Village / Near Banana Beach: A 10–15 minute walk down to the beach. Quieter at night. Fewer accommodation options but you cannot beat the proximity to the surf.
Pro Tip from Our Guides

The rooftop terrace is everything in Tamraght. Choose accommodation on the upper hillside with an unobstructed west-facing view. Watching the sunset over the Atlantic from your riad terrace, mint tea in hand, is one of the quintessential Moroccan surf trip experiences. Do not underestimate how much this adds to your trip.

Accommodation Booking Checklist

  • Decide: all-inclusive camp vs book-your-own accommodation + separate lessons
  • Check rooftop terrace photos — an ocean view makes a huge difference
  • Confirm group size (max 8 per instructor is ideal) if booking a camp
  • Ask if airport transfer is included
  • Book 2–3 months ahead for December–February peak season
  • Read recent reviews — look for mentions of cleanliness, food quality, and guide expertise
  • Confirm whether Wi-Fi and hot water are reliable (both can be variable in Tamraght)
